Celtic are level on points with Bayern Munich in Group B of the Champions League after 2 round of games, and will be hoping to pick up at least a point against the Bavarians during their double-header meeting.
However, the Hoops are left sweating the fitness of their backline, with the defensive trio of Mikael Lustig, Anthony Ralston and Jozo Simunovic not currently fit.
Celtic depth at the back has definitely taken a hit, with Erik Sviatchenko just returning to training last week having spent 2 months recuperating from a knee damage.
Ralston has been struggling with a knee problem, while Lustig, who’s on international duty missed training this week and could be unavailable for selection for Sweden’s World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg and Holland.
Bosnian FA have confirmed that Simunovic is set to miss the games against Belgium and Estonia after suffering a torn hamstring, and he remains a huge doubt to make Celtic’s Champions League trip to Germany in a fortnight.
The trio could also struggle for fitness ahead of the League Cup semi-final against Hibs and the midweek league trip to Aberdeen later this month.
Manager Brendan Rodgers will hope his men somehow defy the odds and get fit ahead of these potential crucial season-defining games.
