Liverpool and Everton battle to sign talented winger

According to reports, Liverpool are ready to battle against Merseyside rivals Everton in the race to sign Sheffield United youngster David Brooks.

After failing to establish himself within the Manchester City setup, Brooks opted to join Championship side Sheffield United where he has flourished.

The youngster has established himself as an important member of the United squad who could potentially launch a Premier League promotion challenge this season as they are currently in third position on the Championship standings. He has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season.

Sheffield however will be hesitant to sell at this point in time and will attempt to offer the player an improved deal.

Manager Chris Wilder appears to have indicated that the Brooks will not be sold anytime soon and said, “He won’t be going anywhere [in January]. We’ve said that all along. We are building something here. There are always casualties along the way when you do that and, yes, we are already looking to January ourselves.”
