Father of attacker calls West Ham time a huge mistake

The father of Simone Zaza has spoken out about why the striker misfired during his time at West Ham last season.

Zaza spent the first half of last season at the Hammers on loan from Juventus and failed to find the back of the net from 11 games in all competitions.

Following his unsuccessful spell in England, he left the club in January and joined Valencia on loan for the remainder of the season.

After joining the Spanish club on a permanent basis this summer, the 26-year-old has hit good form and netted six goals from several games. His performances have helped his club impressively rise to third place on the La Liga standings.

Zaza’s father Antonio has spoken out about his sons failed spell in England with the Hammers and said, “It was a huge mistake. Simone was still concerned by the penalty he missed with Italy at the time and he fail to settle in well in London.

“He was not happy with the weather and with the formation of his ex boss. Moving to Spain was the best ever decision for him.”
