99-goal striker urged to sign for Newcastle United by Ian Wright

Sturridge

Former England star Ian Wright has advised Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge to join Newcastle, suggesting that it was about time for the England international to seek a move away from Anfield.

Daniel Sturridge has found it difficult to get into the first team at Liverpool since the arrival of manager Jurgen Klopp a few years ago and the striker has started in only 10 games over the last two seasons for the Merseyside outfit under the German tactician.

The England international has been displaced by Brazilian Roberto Firmino as the first choice forward in recent seasons and he is currently regarded as a back-up to the Brazilian.

This has led many to suggest Sturridge to seek a move away from Liverpool and find suitable pasture to succeed as a player, given his wondering qualities.

Considering Sturridge’s failings at Liverpool recently, player turned pundit Ian Wright has recommended the ex-Chelsea man to join Newcastle to further his stagnating career.

Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live, “I think Newcastle would be the ideal club for Daniel Sturridge. The fans would take to him there.”

The 28-year-old did earn a rare start in a recent 1-1 draw against Newcastle but failed to do anything of note to justify his selection and this will have further scrutinized his position at Anfield.
