Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that he is keen to sign goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on a permanent basis from Manchester United.
Johnstone has been impressive for the Villains after arriving at the club during the second half of last season and considering that he appears to have no future with United, there is a strong chance that Jose Mourinho will be willing to part ways.
Johnstone has managed to keep an impressive five clean sheets this season and unless he undergoes a dramatic decline in form, his deal will be expected to be made permanent at the end of the season.
Whilst speaking about the goalkeeper, Bruce said, “It would be great to keep him here for the next few years as Villa’s number one. I will need to ask the question.
“The ideal move for us would be to buy him in January. You’ve seen it, a young goalkeeper coming in and getting better with every game he plays.”
