Aston Villa are looking to sign Manchester United loanee Sam Johnstone on a permanent deal at the end of the season, according to the Birmingham mail.
Johnstone is currently on loan at Villa Park from Manchester United and is performing very well for the Championship side, keeping four clean sheets so far this season.
Steve Bruce, the Aston Villa manager, is said to have been left very impressed by the goalkeeper and is now looking to keep the player beyond his loan period at West Midlands by signing him on a permanent basis.
The 24-year-old is still relatively young for a goalkeeper and he might prove to be an astute piece of business for Aston Villa as the United man is a solid performer already.
Villa will hope to get back to the Premier League as soon as possible and will need their young goalkeeper to be at his best during the current campaign to make sure they have any chance of achieving top flight football.
