Newcastle boss explains why Liverpool game is special

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has admitted that his side’s match against Liverpool on Sunday will be a “special game”.

Benitez served as manager of the Reds from 2004-2010 and famously guided the club to Champions League glory in 2005.

Since being appointed as manager of the Magpies, Benitez has done an impressive job and guided the club to the Championship title last season in only his first full season as manager.

This weekend, he will be hoping to exploit Liverpool’s weaknesses in order to try and ensure that his side are able to get something out of the game.

Speaking ahead of the game, Benitez admitted that it would be a special occasion for him saying, “Obviously, it’s a special game for me. It will be emotional, because I spent so many years there, and have so many good memories. My family still live in Liverpool, so it is my home. I feel like I have a home here, but my family are there.”
