According to reports, Idrissa Gueye is set to enter into talks with Everton over signing a new contract.
After a series of impressive displays, Gueye has drawn comparisons to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante and been linked with a move to Arsenal.
The Senegal international has managed to establish himself as a key player within the Toffees hierarchy and manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that he feels that the player deserves a pay rise.
The 28-year-old’s current contract is valid until 2020 and the Merseyside club will look to give him an improve deal to prevent him from being tempted into joining other clubs who may be interested.
Koeman said, “It’s true that we are in talks with him about a new contract. I’m really happy with him. I think he had a big impact with his aggression in the midfield last season.”
There is a good chance that the two parties will agree to a new deal soon.
