Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has dismissed the criticism of Rio Ferdinand on goalkeeper Loris Karius after the German conceded a goal from a 25 yards out free-kick during his team’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Spartak Moscow on Tuesday.
Karius, who has given a start during the game ahead of Simon Mignolet, conceded a goal from 25 yards out during the first half and Ferdinand feels that the keeper should have saved.
Klopp, on the other hand, however think that Karius did all that he could and could not have saved the set-piece.
Klopp responded to Ferdinand’s criticism saying, “It’s over the wall, it’s the corner of the wall. If you want to talk about this, do it really. I don’t understand how you can talk after a game like this about this one situation but I’m not sure, I have to see it again.
“It was a very good free kick. It was in the corner of where the wall protects the corner so I don’t know. I don’t think so but probably you have another opinion.”
The Reds goalkeeping problems have been present since last season with Mignolet being inconsistent and Karius not being able to fully convince that he can don the number one jersey.
