Match Preview
Pachuca has been one of the most disappointing teams in the Liga MX, currently in 13th place with only nine points. Los Tuzos have not won in their last three games and have been outscored 8-3 in this horrendous run of form. The signings Pachuca made this offseason have proven to be ineffective so far as Edson Puch has been injured and Keisuke Honda seems to still need time to adapt to the Liga MX. Diego Alonso’s team certainly has the talent to still make a playoff push but needs to start picking up points starting with this game.
Cruz Azul has been a surprising team in this Apertura 2017 currently undefeated in fourth place with 15 points. La Maquina has only won one of its last four games, a controversial 2-1 win against Santos Laguna, where three of Santos’ players received red cards. Felipe Mora scored his third goal of the season in that game forming part of the promising attack that Paco Jemez has with Mora, Angel Mena and Edgar Mendez. This should be a game that Cruz Azul should be able to get points out of playing against a struggling Pachuca side but it should still be a contested game at the Estadio Hidalgo.
