Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has revealed that he is not confident that his former club can keep Philippe Coutinho should Barcelona reignite their interest in the player during the January transfer window.
Coutinho was strongly linked with a move to the Spanish giants this summer and handed in a transfer request to try and force through a move.
In the end, the Reds stood by their word that they will not sell and Coutinho will remain at the Merseyside club, at least until January.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will reignite their interest in the near future, though should they do so, there is a good chance that a move could materialize.
Whilst discussing how Liverpool can keep the Brazilian, Gerrard said, “Pray! He’s South American, his dream is to go to Barcelona.
“I think the key in this situation is do Barcelona come back? Or are they upset that he hasn’t come? Liverpool will want to keep him for a long, long time, there’s no doubt about that. They love him.”
