Everton ready to make January swoop for 189-goal striker

Giroud

According to reports, Everton manager Ronald Koeman could be set to make a fresh approach for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Toffees are said to have attempted to sign the Frenchman during this summer as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, however a potential deal broke down after the player decided to remain with the Gunners following pressure from his partner.

Ronald Koeman’s team have so far been below par in terms of their attack and they are said to be willing to fork out £40 million in order to try and lure Giroud, who has 189 career goals to his name.

Giroud is said to be the Merseyside clubs top target though they will consider a move for Bournemouth’s Josh King should a move fail to materialize.

The 2018 World Cup is coming up and should Giroud not receive regular game time with the Gunners, it is likely that he will serious consider a move.
