Everton hero outlines his ambitions for the season

Striker Oumar Niasse has revealed that he is hoping to make the most of his second chance at Everton.

Niasse was declared surplus to requirements at the Merseyside club when Ronald Koeman arrived as manager. He went on to spend last season on loan with Hull City and it was widely believed that he would be sold this summer.

The 27-year-old however received renewed hope when the Toffees failed to recruit another striker this summer to replace Romelu Lukaku, who has joined Manchester United.

He enjoyed a stunning week by scoring during the Toffees 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Sunderland and scored both goals for the Toffees during their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

During the aftermath of the match against Bournemouth, Niasse revealed, “It is a great moment for me at Everton.

“I have been waiting for that moment for a long time. I always believed I would have moments like that here. I have kept fighting. Every time there was a difficult time for me, I always tried to do my best.

“I didn’t sign for another team – I signed for Everton. So even if I didn’t have the chance at the beginning, now the coach has given it to me and I have to take it with both hands. I am thankful for that, but I know I have to keep going, keep working hard.”
