Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has revealed that his club failed to offload striker Ross McCormack during the summer as there were no clubs that were interested in signing the player.
McCormack was declared surplus to requirements at the club following a fallout with Bruce and the manager also publicly criticized the striker for a lack of fitness.
He was also left angered by the “gate-gate” scandal which involved the player failing to report to training as he claimed that the electric gates at his home were faulty.
McCormack was linked with a move to Sunderland during the summer; Bruce however revealed that a deal was far from being complete.
He said, “Nobody came in for him. Sunderland played at it, played at it and played at it but it didn’t come through. Unfortunately that’s where we were left.
“I was a bit shocked by it but that’s the brutal reality of it. Nobody came for him, unless I missed them! I wish him the best of luck no matter what people think and all the rest of it.”
