Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has revealed that he was shocked to find out that Birmingham City had chosen to part ways with manager Harry Redknapp so early on in the season.
Birmingham currently lie in 23rd position on the Championship standings after taking just four points from their opening eight League games and Redknapp was sacked following their latest 3-1 defeat against Preston North End.
Considering that Redknapp is 70 years old, there is a good possibility that he may never return to football management.
The Villa boss, who himself is under pressure as his side have failed to live up to expectations, revealed that he was shocked to see Redknapp fired so early in the season.
He said, “Of course [I was shocked], and then you see Michael Brown and the Chesterfield manager lose his and the second is only six weeks old.
“It is what it is now, you’re one game away from a disaster it seems and I don’t think that’s going to change. It’s a very difficult job that we’ve all got these days.”
