Derby County striker Darren Bent has admitted that he will celebrate should he end up scoring against Sunderland this season. Bent is a former player of Sunderland and netted 36 times for the club between 2009 and 2011.
The veteran striker missed his club’s opening day fixture against the Black Cats through hamstring complications and has still yet to play this season as a result of his injury.
The striker is now hoping that he will get an opportunity to play against his former club on March 30 when they play against the Rams at Pride Park and he did admit that he will celebrate should he manage to land himself on the score sheet.
While discussing this Bent said, “When I played against Ipswich Town last season I scored a goal and I didn’t celebrate because it was a respect thing, I learned the game there so from that point of view I can understand it.
“If Lukaku was getting a lot of stick from the Everton fans then he’s going to rub it in their faces if he scores. (Me?) Probably not Aston Villa, because I live in a predominantly Villa supported area.
“But for Sunderland, I play for Derby now and I’ve got a lot of respect for their fans, so if I score I’m going to celebrate.”
