Jordan Amavi has spoken out about his failed transfer from Aston Villa to Sevilla during the summer.
The defender was on the verge of moving to the Spanish club after Villa accepted a bid for him back in July. However the deal fell through after Sevilla claimed that the player had failed a medical.
This angered Villa and relations between the two club’s are now strained. Amavi eventually ended up joining French club Marseille during the summer on a season long loan deal and the transfer is set to be made permanent at the end of the season.
Amavi has now spoken out about what happened and given his version of the events. He said, “During the medical, all goes well. No one says anything.
“That evening, when I returned to my hotel, my agent called me and told me they didn’t want to sign me. He says they found something in my right knee, the one I had an operation on.
“I saw a specialist who was a foot specialist. Therefore, it had nothing to do with my injury. He made me do two or three tests.
“Basic ones, I mean, for a specialist… Even I was surprised. Then, that evening, I return to my hotel, and my agent calls me again and says they don’t want me.”
