Newcastle skipper explains why he rushed to Joselu following Stoke clash

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has revealed why he spoke to team-mate Joselu following the Magpies 2-1 victory over Stoke City during the weekend.

It was Lascelles who went on to score the winner on the day and during the previous week, the Magpies captain also scored a winning goal for his club as they defeated Swansea.

Meanwhile, striker Joselu was disappointed with his performance during the game as he had a number of opportunities to score which he missed.

While revealing that Joselu was disappointed in himself, Lascelles touched upon why he went and spoke to his team-mate following the game by saying, “That’s what team-mates do.

“If it was down the other end and I’d let a goal in and he went down the other end and scored, I’d have gone up to him and said the same.

“He knows himself he should’ve scored a couple of goals today, but good team-mates get each other out of the ****.”

The win over Stoke saw the Magpies move up to fourth place in the Premier League standings and the Magpies are currently on a good run of form as they have now won their past three League encounters in succession.
