According to reports, Sunderland are keeping an eye on Blackburn Rovers defender Charlie Mulgrew ahead of a possible January move.
The Black Cats have been in poor form thus far this season following their relegation from the Premier League last term and currently lie just one place and two points above the bottom three.
Should they not turn things around quickly, the current campaign could prove to be yet another relegation dogfight for Simon Grayson’ men.
As a result, the Black Cats are now taking a look at Mulgrew and may consider making a move for him in January to improve their side for the second half of the season.
The 31-year-old Mulgrew is currently having a good season in League 1 with Rovers and is currently the clubs joint top scorer with three goals despite usually being deployed in central defence or in the centre of midfield.
Mulgrew also has plenty of experience and could be an asset to the Black Cats.
