Football pundit Phil Thompson has revealed that he thinks that Everton veteran Leighton Baines is currently lacking the legs to compete in the Premier League on a regular basis.
Baines is an important leader within the Toffees squad and has been with the club since joining during the summer of 2007 from Wigan Athletic in a deal worth £5 million.
With 316 League appearances for the Toffees under his belt, the 32-year-old Baines is one of the most experienced players in the Premier League.
Thompson has now revealed that he feels that the player does not have the legs to run up and down the pitch anymore and said, “Baines is still probably one of their better players, but he has still not got the legs to get up and down that left touchline, supply as many crosses.”
A long season still remains to be played and it remains to be seen if Thompson’s view will be proven correct.
