24-year-old reveals he snubbed Manchester United this summer

Michael Keane has revealed that he chose playing for Everton over Manchester United because he felt that regular playing time could be limited with the Red Devils.

The 24-year-old Keane was impressive during his first full season in the Premiership last season with Burnley and earned himself interest from his boyhood club United as well as the Toffees.

His dynamic performances also led to him being called up for England squads by Gareth Southgate.

Keane will be hoping to use this season in order to firmly establish himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League as well as to cement his place within Southgate’s plans for the World Cup next year.

He has revealed that United did show interest in re-signing him during the summer and said, “They [United] were in touch with my agent and showed a lot of interest. They wanted me, but a few things happened and I thought Everton would be the best place for me to come.

“I thought I would get a lot of game time here, more than I possibly would at Manchester United, and that was a massive factor in my decision.”
