Monterrey vs Pumas Copa MX Preview
Monterrey has been the best team in the Liga MX, leading the league with 20 points and manager Antonio Mohamed has also shown great interest in the Copa MX as well. Los Rayados currently lead Group 2 of the competition with seven points and will be looking for the win or the draw from this game for the first-place finish.
Antonio Mohamed has played players like Aviles Hurtado, Rogelio Funes Mori, Dorlan Pabon and Carlos Sanchez throughout the tournament and may feature some of those key players in this game. Monterrey has the better team and the home-field advantage which should be good enough to secure the three points from this game.
Pumas UNAM is currently second in Group 2 with five points but a win would propel the Mexico City team to a first-place finish over Monterrey. The last time these two teams played in the Copa MX, Los Capitalinos put in a tremendous effort to get a 1-1 draw at home. However, this should be a very different game because it will be played at the Estadio BBVA Bancomer.
Pumas has used some key players in the past like Abraham Gonzalez and Joffre Guerron but is unclear if manager Sergio Egea will use those key players for this match. The game should be a contested clash between two teams who will be looking to obtain those three points from the game.
