Manchester United star Juan Mata has admitted that it will be weird to play against Wayne Rooney next week when United host Everton in a Premier League encounter.
Rooney, who is United’s all-time top goal scorer, re-joined his boyhood club this summer following a thirteen year absence.
He is now set to return to the Theatre of Dreams next Sunday when the Toffees take on United at Old Trafford.
Whilst speaking about his team’s upcoming fixture against the Toffees and Rooney, Mata said, “They’ve just suffered a tough defeat against Tottenham, but they have made very good signings and of course they have a player like Wayne Rooney.
“I hope Old Trafford will welcome him as he deserves. It will be weird to see Wayne playing with a different shirt, to be honest, but this is the decision he made last summer and we wish him the best of luck.”
The 31-year-old will be looking to cause an upset over Jose Mourinho’s side especially as his side have started the league in disappointing form after taking just four points from their opening four games.
