Rangers legend Ally McCoist has criticized Celtic star Scott Brown for his “stupid” kick out at Hamilton player Giannis Skondras during the Hoops 4-1 victory on Friday night.
McCoist went on to add that he feels that Brown should have been sent off after he appeared to catch Skondras on the face.
McCoist is familiar with Brown having worked with him while assistant manager of Scotland and though he feels that the player has matured over the years, he has questioned the manner in which the midfielder acted during the game especially as the Hoops were coasting to victory.
The Rangers legend said, “Scott’s been showing a great level of maturity recently, but he flicks out and catches the player.
“It’s stupidity, just daft, isn’t it? You’re three-up at half-time, the game’s in the bag, you’re cruising and looking forward to Tuesday and facing a world-class team
“So why would you get involved? Scott’s been playing great and out of his skin at club and international level and you give the referee the opportunity to give you a red card.”
Celtic coasted to an easy victory on the day. The few negatives from the game was the action of Brown as well as questionable goalkeeping from Craig Gordon which gifted Hamilton with a consolation goal towards the end of the second half.
