Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he has been receiving texts inundated with praise since completing the signing of RB Leipzig star Naby Keita. The Guinea international Keita will move to Anfield next summer after the Reds agreed a £48 million fee with the Bundesliga club.
Klopp has revealed that he has been receiving texts of support since his club managed to sign the player and said, “I have contact to a lot of people in the Bundesliga, as you can imagine, and I have never had so many congratulations messages as I had after signing Naby.
“He’s the player of the league, that’s how it is. Last year, together with Thiago Alcantara who played an outstanding season for Bayern, he was the flier.
“He’s been doing this for two or three years, with different clubs in different leagues, but he’s still a young boy.
“It’s really good news. OK, we have to wait but sometimes we have to wait for a really good thing. I have no problem with this. I would have preferred, of course, another situation, but it’s cool!”
The midfielder is set to take the number 8 shirt upon his arrival. This was also the shirt that had been worn by the club’s icon Steven Gerrard. It could be exciting to watch him link up with the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, both of whom are currently shining for the Reds.
Keita was also one of the most impressive players in the Bundesliga last season and played a big role in terms of helping the relatively unknown Leipzig claim a second place finish in the league and qualify for the Champions League.
