As per French news outlet L’Equipe (via GFFN), France international and free agent Bacary Sagna could be joining West Ham soon following his release by Manchester City.
Leicester City are also linked with the former Hammers target who has already turned down a chance to join Brighton.
Sagna, 34, arrived City from Arsenal in 2014, winning the EPL and 2 League Cup in an Etihad career that saw him feature in 85 games, with 17 coming in the top-flight last term.
West Ham have already brought Sagna’s former teammate and fellow fullback Pablo Zabaleta to the London Stadium, but could do with more strength at the back.
The veteran defender offers pace and link up play when going forward, and he could be the perfect man to bring out the goals in summer arrival Javier Hernandez through his crosses.
While Sagna is clearly no longer able to consistently play at the top level, his experience could come handy to a struggling West Ham backline.
That Chelsea were also keen on the former Gunners during the summer transfer window means he has at least one or two more quality seasons in him.
Sagna isn’t a marquee signing, but he can be a good addition to Slaven Bilic’s side if he’s snapped up.
