Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes that he feels that Philippe Coutinho would have ended up joining Barcelona had Neymar not joined French giants PSG for a world record fee.
Following the departure of Neymar, Barcelona attempted to sign Coutinho as a replacement but failed in all of their attempts.
The Catalan giants have claimed that the Reds demanded £183 million for the services of the 25-year-old Coutinho and Mourinho feels that a transfer could have gone ahead had the price not been inflated.
Mourinho added that he feels that the Neymar transfer has changed the transfer market as it now as inflated the prices of a lot of players.
While talking about Coutinho, Mourinho said, “Neymar changed everything. If the biggest transfer in history had still been [Paul] Pogba, I think Philippe Coutinho would now be in Barcelona at £101 million.”
Though Coutinho is likely to remain a committed member of Jurgen Klopp’s team for now, there is a big chance that he will eventually leave provided he does not undergo a loss of form.
