Arsenal legend Ian Wright has blasted Tottenham star Dele Alli after the youngster appeared to make a middle finger gesture during England’s win over Slovakia.
Alli has come under a lot of scrutiny due to the incident and he has since insisted that the gesture was a joke aimed at team-mate Kyle Walker.
Fifa have since confirmed that they are investigating the incident and Alli could potentially face a ban as a result.
Now Wright has gone on to blast Alli by saying that he thinks the youngsters gesture was foolish. He said, “When he was pictured flicking the finger at Wembley on Monday, maybe it wasn’t a nasty, malicious gesture. But it most definitely WAS naive and daft.”
However at the same time, Wright does think that the 21-year-old Alli is a great talent and believes that he could go on and become a key part of the England national team going into the future.
He continued, “I love Dele, I think he has the potential to be one of the best players anywhere. And I know he will have been horrified and gutted at the reaction after Monday night’s game. He won’t need telling he has done wrong.”
