Reason why move for West Ham United starlet’s move fell through revealed

West Ham attacking midfield prodigy Domingos Quina was 8 hours away from joining Championship side Sheffield United on transfer deadline day, only for his agent to up the fees involved, effectively scuppering a deal as a result.

Bleacher Report made a special video following Sheffield’s manager Chris Wilder on deadline day at the club’s base.

Despite seeming like a deal to get Quina was going to be sealed any moment, Wilder turned it down having gotten a text message from the youngster’s agent.

The Blades boss responded: “We can’t do that, we’ve agreed a deal with West Ham. Everything is done, we’re at our budget.”

After 2 hours of trying to negotiate further, Wilder gave up and revealed that the agent had demanded an additional “50 per cent” for his part in the transfers.

Since arriving West Ham from Chelsea youth setup last summer, the Portugal youth international has yet to make his Premier League bow for the club.

A season-long loan move to the Championship was deemed necessary by the Hammers for the 17-year-old who signed a 3-year contract last November, but his agent’s selfish demands for improved terms for his player in the last minute will now see him continue with the under-23’s.

Quina, an Euros under-17 winner with Portugal received two merited nominations for Premier League 2 ” Player of the Month ” last October for his performances against Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion, but while he could have been playing in front of 40,000 fans at Sunderland at the weekend, he’ll be walking out in front of 400 against Leicester City U23 next Monday instead.
