According to Bundesliga expert Lee Price, Naby Keita could potentially play for Liverpool this season should the Reds pay the German club a further premium fee.
The Merseyside club last month completed the signing of the 22 year old Keita, who will join a £48 million fee and is set to arrive at the club on July 1 next year.
Price has now revealed that the youngster could end up playing for Liverpool this season. He said, “As I revealed back in June, Keita had agreed terms with Liverpool long ago, and it was just Leipzig playing hard ball.
“Cornered by his release clause of £48m kicking in next summer, the German club always knew that they’d have to come to an agreement this summer to maximise their income, hence charging Liverpool a premium to do the deal now. This makes sense for all parties – unless Keita picks up an injury.
“There is a chance, depending on Leipzig’s domestic and Champions League progress, that Liverpool could pay a further premium to capture the midfielder in January.
“The deal also suits the Reds, as it safeguards them against Emre Can’s expiring contract – with the German expected to complete a move to Juventus at the end of the season.”
Keita is arguably one of the brightest young talents in World football after starring last season as RB Leipzig claimed a surprise second place finish in the Bundesliga and qualified for the Champions League.
He will be an exciting addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side and is a talent who fans of the Reds can be excited about.
