Liverpool legend blasts Arsenal over Thomas Lemar chase

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has criticized Arsenal for their failed transfer deadline day attempt to sign Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

Fowler found the bid made by the Gunners which is believed to be in the region of £92 million to be mind-blowing.

Though Lemar was a shining star in the Ligue 1 last season, he still is very inexperienced at the highest level which means that he could have been a risk.

he high bid for the youngster also illustrates that Arsene Wenger may have been desperate to bolster his side after they made  a bad start to the new season after losing two out of three of their Premier League matches thus far.

Whilst discussing some of the crazy sums of money that was spent this summer, Fowler took a swipe at Arsenal and wrote in his column in the Daily Mirror, “There does come a time when the clubs need to take a step back and see where they are taking the game.

“It seems to me they are taking it closer to the cliff edge. When Arsenal are offering almost £100million for a kid who has played only one decent season in a very weak French league, that’s mind-blowing.”
