As per ghanasoccernet, Leeds United summer signing Caleb Ekuban has undergone a successful surgery on a foot problem he picked up as a result of an injury during the 2-nil win over Sunderland 2 weeks ago.
Although the Whites are yet to reveal the timeline for the return of the 23-year-old, it’s believed the former Chievo striker would spend some considerable amount of time recuperating, most likely within the region of 4 to 8 weeks.
Ekuban’s injury forced manager Thomas Christiansen into bringing in 3 additional strikers, as the mission to replace last season’s club and Championship highest goal scorer Chris Wood continued until transfer deadline day.
Jay Roy Grot, Pawel Cibicki and Pierre-Michel Lasogga were brought in from Nijmegen, Malmo and Hamburg respectively, and Christiansen would now hope they help fire his side to picking up needed points in the absence of the Italian-born Ghanaian.
Ekuban kicked off his Leeds United career on a bright note, scoring on his debut in a 4-1 Carabao Cup over Port Vale and slowly establishing himself as the man to step into Wood’s shoes.
However, he would now have the battle the aforementioned trio and a red-hot Kemar Roofe once he returns to full fitness, in order to have the chance to lead the line for the Premier League-chasers on a permanent basis.
