Sunderland defender Michael Ledger has joined Hartlepool United on a season long loan deal.
This comes after he was unable to force his way into the Black Cats first team fold and could mean that he will never return to the club.
The 20-year-old Ledger who was previously a regular in the clubs under 23 side was sent on loan last season and played for Norwegian club Viking. He could well make his debut this weekend when Pools play against Maidstone United.
After not even being named on the bench for the Black Cats games in the League Cup where they play against lower league opposition, it became clear that Ledger was not part of the clubs plans for this season.
He will now be looking forward to gaining regular playing time this season and is set to take a pay cut with the move to Hartlepool. It seems the right time for Ledger to move on from Sunderland.
