Leeds reportedly agreed to make 13th summer signing club’s highest ever earner

Leeds United have signed German striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga on a season-long loan deal from Hamburg, and manager Thomas Christiansen can be rest assured he has finally brought on someone capable of filling the big hole Chris Wood’s departure created in his side.

The new Burnley striker was the highest earner during him time at Elland Road, making £15,000-a-week before completing a £15million move to the Premier League side.

However, Lasogga is set to pocket triple of that, as the 25-year-old is on a £50,000 weekly wages.

According to the Yorkshire Post, the hefty salary was initially a stumbling block during negotiations, but it appears the club have agreed to meeting all of it, or willing to pay a significant percentage.

This definitely would see Leeds breaking the bank just to bring on the former Hertha forward.

After 13 years away from the topflight, the Peacocks seem more desperate to secure promotion this term having missed out on the playoffs last season by a whisker.

While Wood would be sorely missed, in Lasogga, Leeds have gotten themselves a quality, yet expensive replacement.

His sturdy frame means he is fit to weather the challenges the physicality of the Championship offers, while his decent goalscoring record means he could help fire the side to at least a playoff spot at the end of the campaign if given the chance.
