According to the Mirror, Everton are interested in securing a last-minute summer deal for Watford striker Stefano Okaka, with a view of bringing the 28-year-old Italy international to Goodison Park on a season-long loan.
The former Roma frontman caught the eyes of manager Ronald Koeman after scoring twice against the Toffees last term, and already has a league goal this term having found the back of the net against Liverpool during matchday 1’s 3-3 draw.
Okaka has since dropped down the pecking order and yet to play for the Hornets, though, with new boss Marco Silva keen on new arrivals Andre Gray and Richarlison as his first options upfront.
With a need to play more regularly in order to get a look-in for next year’s World Cup, the 4-cap Italy international wants to change clubs, and is very much open to a summer switch.
Marseille, Udinese, and Sevilla are said to be also keen on the former Anderlecht striker.
Everton want one more forward in the mould of Romelu Lukaku, and as far as pure strength goes, Okaka ticks the box.
With a 12-year career spanning across Italian and English clubs, he also brings experience to the table, and would fit perfectly into Koeman’s 1-man striking system should a Goodison Park move be wrapped up for him before transfer deadline.
