According to French news outlet Le Parisien, Celtic are said to be in advanced negotiations with Ligue 1 giants and their Champions League group stage’s rivals PSG over a season-long loan move for 19-year-old striker Odsonne Edouard.
The France youth international is yet to make his official first team bow for manager Unai Emery’s side, spending last season on loan at Toulouse, where he scored once in 16 Ligue 1 appearances.
Despite his unimpressive return in front of goal during the stint, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is convinced Edouard could help cover for the injury-prone striking duo of Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele.
Edouard boasts of a prolific record during his youth career, emerging as Player of the Tournament and top scorer at the 2015 Euro Under-17 championships, where he scored 8 goals in 5 appearances games – including a match-winning hat-trick in the final against Germany.
Standing at 6 ft 1 in, the powerful striker is a sturdy presence upfront, and while he’s inexperienced, he could come of age cutting his teeth under Rodgers’ guidance.
PSG have added Neymar and could still buy Kylian Mbappe, shoring up their attack to the brim and leaving Edouard with no chance of breaking through at the Parc des Princes this term.
At Parkhead, he would be given the proper chance to blossom into the fine striker he has been tipped to be should a move go through.
