Aston Villa are reportedly willing to allow midfielder to leave this summer

According to reports, Aston Villa are prepared to let Gary Gardner go out on loan before the transfer deadline.

The 25-year-old Gardner has not featured during any of Villa’s five matches in the Championship thus far and he may be better off finding opportunities elsewhere.

He has fallen down the pecking order at the club behind the likes of Conor Hourihane, Glenn Whelan, Hanri Lansbury and Mile Jedinak and it will be hard to see him getting a lot of opportunities should he remain.

It is likely that Gardner will be sent out on loan and such a move will also allow him to keep on playing first team football. If his form is good, Villa also can explore the possibility of recalling him in January.

Gardner is no stranger to loan spells, having undergone five such spells before with the likes of Coventry City, Sheffield Wednesday, Brighton and twice with Nottingham Forest.
