Newcastle reportedly to raise transfer funds by sanctioning sale of £10million-rated star

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are willing to sell striker Dwight Gayle before transfer deadline day, as they badly need to free up funds for the recruitments of much-needed arrivals.

Despite banging in 23 goals for the club last term, the English striker, 27, has failed to hit the ground running upon Toons’ return to the topflight, and wasn’t included in weekend’s matchday squad as a result.

Gayle was withdrawn against Tottenham and Huddersfield Town. Newcastle suffered 2-nil and 1-nil defeats at the hands of the aforementioned clubs respectively, with the former Crystal Palace striker underwhelming in front of goal.

Without Gayle against West Ham, Newcastle picked up all 3 points in an emphatic 3-nil victory, and manager Rafa Benitez might now be convinced he doesn’t need the services of the Arsenal youth product any longer.

The Spaniard already claimed prior to the game: ‘He’s had his ups and downs. He has to get back to the level we were expecting and the level he was last season.’

The Saint James’ Park outfit are in need of quality additions in order to safety navigate through the campaign, and while they could regret selling Gayle should he prove his worth elsewhere, the urgent need of funds might force their hands.
