Leeds United have reportedly cooled interest in 28-year-old striker

According to reports, Leeds United have cooled their interest in signing Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede.

The Whites had reportedly considered making an approach for Gestede as they aim to find a replacement for Chris Wood but will now look elsewhere.

Wood scored 44 goals from 88 games for the Whites and was the clubs leading goal scorer for the past two consecutive seasons.

The New Zealand international played a key role in helping guide the Yorkshire giants to a seventh place finish in the Championship last season and will not be an easy figure to replace.

Whites boss Thomas Christiansen has been very active in terms of transfers this summer and has brought in 12 new players.

He will also be aware that he ideally will need a striker who has a proven goal scoring record to his team before the end of the transfer season. This will improve his team’s chances of launching a promotion push.
