TMW reports that Everton are very much still interested in getting a late deal over the line for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, and it appears a late bid for the 30-year-old England international could be tabled before or on Thursday.
The Premier League winning-forward is also being targeted by defending champions Chelsea, but he’s believed to be their plan B should a move for Swansea’s Fernando Llorente fall through.
Vardy is currently contracted to the King Power Stadium outfit until 2020, and has insisted he’s keen on seeing out his contract with the surprise champions from 2 seasons ago.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman wants one more striker before Thursday deadline elapses, but has since failed to land one since revealing his plans last month.
The Dutch manager watched his frontline drew blanks against Chelsea during weekend’s 2-nil loss, and could push for a late Jamie Vardy move as he hopes to get a quality striker to replace the goals of Romelu Lukaku.
Vardy has 44 Premier League goals to his name, 42 from the last 3 seasons, and given his pace and suitability to playing as a lone striker, he definitely would be a perfect, albeit short-term option for the Toffees were he to be sensationally snapped up.
