Liverpool legend wants 24-year-old to arrive at Anfield this summer

Phil Thompson has revealed that he would love to see Liverpool sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before transfer deadline day.

The Reds have been touted as a possible destination for the 24-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has refused the chance to sign a new contract with the Gunners.

Considering that he is now in the final year of his contract and does not seem interested in signing a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal may have no choice but to sell to Liverpool as deadline day approaches.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could certainly be a player who can help the Reds in their aims of challenging for trophies should he end up joining the club an whilst talking about the player, Thompson said, “I would certainly take him (at Liverpool).

“We play with a three in there (midfield). He could play either side of (Jordan) Henderson or if Henderson doesn’t play, (Emre) Can.

“He brings drive, he brings energy to any side. This boy has got a lot to offer and I don’t think he’s been valued.”
