Barcelona in talks with Liverpool for superstar confirms chief

Barcelona Sporting director Robert Fernandez has claimed that the Catalan giants are currently in talks with Liverpool over a deal to sign Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian is reportedly viewed as a replacement for his fellow Countryman Neymar, who joined PSG this summer.

Liverpool are naturally reluctant to sell given that Coutinho was a key part of their team last season and they have already rejected a number of bids from the Spanish giants.

However the fact that Barca are persistent combined, with Coutinho having already handed in a transfer request could eventually force them to sell.

Fernandez has now confirmed that talks are taking place and said, “We want to get to a favourable situation, but for this to happen it is necessary to have a lot of discretion on the part of the clubs and the player.”

Despite talks going ahead, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has constantly re-stated that he is confident that Coutinho will not leave the Merseyside club.
