Why Rudy Gestede is not the man for Leeds United

In recent days, Leeds United have been linked to signing Rudy Gestede. Gestede, twice a failure in the Premier League now, is currently at Middlesbrough under former Whites manager Garry Monk.

According to reports, Boro and Leeds are in negotiations for the player, but this looks like it would be a big mistake to me. I understand the thinking.

Gestede can bring much of the same as Wood. Heres’s the thing, though: most of the good performances by Leeds so far this season have come without the big man.

They are much more free-flowing with the likes of Roofe, or Saiz, up front, and thus a better team. Sure, there is an argument to be made about having a plan ‘B,’ I’ll give you that. But should the plan B take up two-thirds of the money that you got for Wood?

In this instance, it surely should not. Leeds need to be looking at players that can jump into the Premier League. While we don’t know what some of the players could or could not do if they reach that stage, we certainly do know what Gestede is capable, or incapable of!

So, a move for Leeds to sign Gestede would be akin to leasing a Pinto while thinking you were going to own a Ferrari. Leeds should move on from this deal and spend their money elsewhere!
