Tigres UANL was expected to win the Liga MX Apertura 2017 and is still expected to reach that target despite a bit of an underwhelming start to the season. The team from Nuevo Leon has two wins, three draws and a loss after six rounds of play, good for nine points. Los Felinos are coming off a 2-2 draw against Club America away from home.
Enner Valencia scored both goals for Tigres UANL that gave the team the point from the Estadio Azteca. The Ecuadorian striker now has five goals tied for the best in the Liga MX with Lobos BUAP’s Julian Quinones and Pumas UNAM’S Nicolas Castillo. Andre-Pierre Gignac and Eduardo Vargas both started on the bench against Club America making the result that much more impressive. Ricardo Ferretti’s team should be able to pick up the three points from the game but it could be complicated against this surprising Lobos BUAP team.
Lobos BUAP has been the topic of controversy lately as it still does not have a TV deal with any network and has now resulted to begging its fan base for money. The team from Puebla has surpassed expectations so far picking up eight points from six games. BUAP was lucky to pick up a point from its last game as the team tied 1-1 against Atlas with an 89th-minute goal from Amaury Escoto.
Rafael Puente Jr’s aggressive style of play could easily be trumped by Ricardo Ferretti’s tactics and the matchup from the sidelines should also be very interesting. Despite the possible mismatch, the game should be one of the best in the Liga MX this weekend.
