Leeds United reportedly in negotiations to sign Wood’s replacement on a bargain

According to Sportbladet (as cited on The Sun), Leeds United are on the verge of signing Malmo and Swedish international striker Pawel Cibicki for £1.45million, with the player’s agent Nochi Hamasor confirming talks are ongoing between all parties involved.

As per Hamasor: “It is true that there is an offer for Pawel and negotiations are in progress. But I don’t want to comment any more than that.”

Following the sales of Chris Wood (£15m) and Liam Bridcutt (£1m) to Burnley and Nottingham Forest respectively, Leeds had some £16million to spend.

Jay-Roy Grot’s arrival from NEC Nijmegen cost £1.5million, and the Whites are left with a transfer fund of £14.5million to work their way through the final week of the summer market.

Cibicki, 23, could prove to be the one to replace Wood should he get signed. The former Poland youth international has spent 5 seasons cutting his teeth in the business of scoring goals, and has bagged 15 league strikes in his last 46 appearances.

The Swedish league and Super Cup winner would reunite with fellow Swede and former teammate Pontus Jansson at Elland Road should a move go through.
