Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has revealed that he is proud of his players resolve following the team’s 1-1 Championship draw with Bristol City on Friday.
Jamie Paterson opened the scoring for Bristol after an hour but Josh Onomah, who is on loan with the Villains from Tottenham, managed to score an equalizer not long after following a long range strike.
The draw marked the first time that Villa had come back after conceding to claim a point since their 1-1 draw against Newcastle in December 2015.
Following the game the 56-year-old Bruce however praised his team for the resolve that they showed during the match, saying, “I was delighted we had a response after all the comments a couple of weeks ago.
“We conceded an awful goal, which I felt shouldn’t have been given. When it goes against you like that, you need a response. Thankfully we got a little bit of luck of our own with a deflection. It was a terrific strike from Josh and the response was good.”
Despite the positives from, the result continued the club’s run of underwhelming form this season and they have so far taken five points from their opening five games. This will no doubt heap the pressure on Bruce.
