Paul Merson believed that Liverpool will exploit Arsenal’s defence and claim an easy win when the two sides meet on Sunday afternoon in an English Premiership clash.
The Gunners defensive frailties have already been exposed this season as they started off with a 4-3 win against Leicester and then followed that up with a 1-0 shock defeat against Stoke last weekend.
Though Jurgen Klopp’s side will arguably be favorites for the game, they do also have defensive problems of their own which were shown during their 3-3 draw with Watford during their opening game of the season.
Liverpool are the more confident of the two sides as they claimed a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace and also defeated Hoffenheim 4-2 in a Champions League encounter this week.
Merson has nowrevealed that he thinks Liverpool will prevail on the day, saying, “I’ve got to go for Liverpool here. They will suffocate Arsenal’s attack and exploit their poor, poor defence.
“If the Gunners continue to play three at the back, it will play into the hands of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. Yes, Liverpool always concede but, going forward, they will have miles too much for this current Arsenal side.”
