West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that he is still not happy with Marko Arnautovic after the striker received a red card during his club’s weekend game against Southampton. The Austrian was sent off following a reckless elbow on Jack Stephens.
He has since been fined £160,000 for the misconduct and this should be a good punishment for the hothead attacker.
Arnautovic should have clearly tried to contain himself especially as a professional and had the Hammers not been reduced to ten men, they may have been able to savage something from the game.
Bilic has now admitted that he is still upset with the player and said, “He is sorry. He has apologised three or four times, on Instagram, on the bus, in the dressing room.
“It’s nice, but you can’t do that. You can’t explain that. According to him he didn’t want to elbow him. But he probably wanted to get him a bit because he was elbowed himself a few minutes before.
“I’m fuming still. The players know you can’t let the team down like that. Whoever does that will get fined. I’m very confident he won’t do that again. He’s angry with himself. He regrets it.”
