Club America has won its last four games in the Liga MX Apertura 2017, coming off a 3-2 away win against Lobos BUAP. Oribe Peralta scored his third goal of the season in that game, now tying him with Cecilio Dominguez with most goals on Club America this Apertura. William Da Silva and Carlos Darwin Quintero also scored their first goals of the season in that game. Edson Alvarez received a red card in that encounter against Lobos BUAP but will not miss this match against Tigres UANL and should be in the starting 11.
Miguel Herrera’s team has played well in this tournament but has won unconvincingly in its last three games. This last game against Lobos BUAP was a hard-fought encounter throughout the 90 minutes while the wins against Atlas and Pumas UNAM were merit to questionable penalty calls. This will be a tremendous test for Las Aguilas and even the home-field advantage may not be enough to help secure the three points from the game.
Tigres UANL is off to a slower start than expected but did pick up a dominant 2-0 win against Pumas UNAM in the fifth round of matches in the Apertura 2017. Andre-Pierre Gignac and Eduardo Vargas both picked up their second goals of the season in that game. The formidable offense of Tigres UANL is one of the most imposing forces in the Liga MX and has been underperforming in this tournament.
Ricardo Ferretti’s attack has produced 10 goals but 5 of those goals came in the season opener against Puebla. The team has not looked as dominant as it did in that initial game of the Apertura but that last game against Pumas UNAM may be a turning point and this would be a huge victory to follow that performance by.
