Harry Redknapp knows his way around a transfer, perhaps better than anyone. He’s signed Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe, what, ten times apiece? Despite that, he does know what it’s like to get deals done.
And he smells a rat on the whole Jack Wilshere to Aston Villa thing. The Birmingham City boss knows his available, but he quickly shot it down when speaking to ITV Racing (via the Daily Star) saying that “he won’t come to the Championship.”
He then said “it’s worth a go” to try to get him to join his side, but only in jest. It’s nice to see Redknapp use some common sense here, but it really might not be the worst move for the player.
Sure, the Championship is a little harder hitting and has more games but Wilshere needs to play somewhere that can trust him. Even at Bournemouth, he never was truly trusted 100% to be their guy.
At any rate, it’s not likely to happen. He’s probably more likely to be in the blue and red of Barcelona than in the claret of Aston Villa.
